J'Aton Couture From Say Yes To The Dress |
The Group
The thought is the more the merrier. Right? I invited My Mom, Sister, Bestie, Cousins & Nieces to see me try on dresses. Seeing that they are all in the wedding party, I thought they could search for their dresses or at least try some on while I did my thing. My advice to you now is keep it small. If its just your Bestie or your Mother. Every Bride is different, but if you don't know what you want your group isn't going to help your decision much. It's not like these Bridal shows where you try on the perfect dress and everyone just cries when they see you in it. If you go in thinking like that your going to be disappointed like I was. Try to enjoy the experience. Trying on dresses can be confusing and frustrating if you over think it. You may not find a dress on the first try. It's okay. Don't panic!! If you started early enough you have plenty of time to decide.
The Feeling
You know that feeling every Bride on every show about finding the "their dress." I say don't rely on the TV shows. Your feeling about your dress on your wedding day should be special, no doubt. Just sometimes it's not the same expression of feelings you see on the TV. It could be a quiet and calm or a moment when you see yourself going down the aisle in the dress. It could be a number of things. But it's not always going to be tears and your mother's tears. I can't stress enough, go in with an open mind and try on everything you can find within your budget. Then trust your feelings. Seek the answer within you.
It's there, just trust it.
It's there, just trust it.
The Budget
I say, "If you can't afford it, don't do it." Again watching these TV shows and seeing Brides purchase $1400 to $13,000 gowns. I know this is every Brides dream. To go crazy on a beautiful wedding dress with all the trimmings, so to speak. I suggest you start out small. There are a lot of beautiful gowns out there for a smaller ticket price. You never know what you can get if you do a little leg work. If you only have $400 to spend it's okay. I don't want you to be afraid. There is something out there for you too. Start early, look at things online, in magazines and cut, print out the things you like. A good bridal consultant will find the dress that complements you and what you like. You don't have to spend millions to look like a million bucks.
and finally...
Buyers Remorse
Don't freak out. You got your dress, you've got 5 months to go, you've lost 40 pounds and now you don't know if you still like the dress you purchased. Take a deep breath. Call your Bestie and have the conversation with her. Or call the bridal consultant and tell her your concerns. Often we just need someone to calm us down. Since I know this feeling very well. I went to the Weddingbee blog and asked my fellow Bees some advice. I even posted the picture of me in my dress. I got some great feedback. They helped me a lot. The point is talk it out before you do anything. It could be just as simple as trying on the dress again to see how you look in it now.
By all means take a new picture!!
Just make sure the Groom doesn't see it.
Sweet Talk & Love
